We have had a wonderful season, made even more special by the volunteers that have stayed with us to help in the garden, so a big thank you to them. Two of those volunteers sent us some drawings they did of us, and we wanted to share them. A big thank you to Estelle and Anaelle for their lovely gift and beautiful art work and making us all look so youthful – although Jerome looks far younger than I do in the pics which can’t be right! By the way, he’s the one with the sword 🙂...

Trefacwn – biggest and best veg in St Davids?

Posted by on 3 Jan 2015 in Blog, Gallery | 0 comments

Whilst making the challenge of biggest and best veg in St Davids, I think we can safely say that’s a bigger than the average beetroot. Having said that, a lot of our veg got to be pretty big, should have seen the fennel – must be all that love and care, or, pretty good manure. We are continuing to perfect our growing and choosing what we grow, and Eilan has now taken up the mantel and will be leading...

Strawberry season at last and harvesting can begin – alongside our gooseberries of course. Even though the children seem very reluctant to be seen weeding or digging during the winter, I’m happy to accept their enthusiasm come harvesting the fruit bounty – still working on them harvesting veg though! Our first pickings mean’t every cottage got a taste of those lovely strawberries – not sure how keen the kids will be to part with the raw strawberry cheese cake...

Porthgain World Cup

Another great year for Porthgain World Cup (Pembrokeshire). A bit early this year (August 18th), which meant some usual suspects were unable to submit a team, Trefacwn included. Hopefully next year we will be back in the game. Luckily the rain stopped just in time and Porthgain World Cup had sunshine all day. Some tense moments in the quarter finals, with two games going to penalty shootout. The most exciting match (in my opinion) was Mexico & Scotland. Mexico...

Meditation Hut – planning outcome

Posted by on 12 Jul 2013 in Blog, Featured, Gallery | 1 comment

As many of you will already know, we previously failed to get retrospective planning for the meditation hut and went to appeal. After an independent hearing and a site visit, with the opportunity for both sides to explain their views, we have now been granted planning and the Hut stays! We would like to thank our local planning officers for their due diligence, imagine what our countryside would be without some form of governance, and hope that more structures...

Garlic harvest

Posted by on 6 Jul 2013 in Blog, Gallery | 0 comments

The wild garlic was scrummy this year, but as it’s finished, we’ve been harvesting our planted bulbs. Fresh garlic bulbs in salads have been a plenty and now Karen’s harvested what garlic was left and drying in the court yard ready for storing. And yes, you heard right, it’s sunny enough at Trefacwn to dry herbs!   Here’s Karen harvesting (bottom left, hard at it), and look how well everything is growing:...
